The objectives of this presentation are to ensure that participants:
- Know who is required to report elder abuse.
- Understand their obligation to report elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation under O.R.C. 5101.63
- Understand the various types of elder abuse.
- Recognize the indicators of possible abuse.
- Know the forms of financial exploitation by financial services providers, family members, friends, in-home caregivers, and strangers.
- Know how and where to report Elder Abuse.
- Understand how confidentiality and immunity apply to reporting elder abuse.
- Know the responsibilities of APS with respect to the reports it receives.
- Know when APS may be able to obtain a protective order.

Gregory S. French
Certified Elder Law Attorney
Gregory S. French is certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) and the National Elder Law Foundation. He also is accredited by the VA to handle veterans' claims. Mr. French has been rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and selected as a Best Lawyer in Elder Law. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and a member of the NAELA's Council of Advanced Practitioners.
Mr. French is a past President of NAELA and chaired NAELA's Professionalism and Ethics Committee when it developed the First and Second Editions of the Aspirational Standards for the Practice of Elder Law and Special Needs Law with Commentaries. He helped found and chaired OSBA's Elder Law Committee and is a member of its Council of Delegates. Mr. French founded the Cincinnati Bar Association's Elder Law Committee and served as its Chair for four years. He also has coauthored Anderson's Ohio Elder Law Practice Manual and served as General Editor of Lawyers Cooperative Publishing's Counseling the Older Client.
